Privacy policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
My Tax Essentials ("we", "us") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. As a registered tax agent we are also bound by the confidentiality obligations of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009.
What we collect
We collect information you give us when you contact us, submit a form, book an appointment or become a client — such as your name, email address, phone number, tax file number, income and financial details, and documents you upload.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and provide tax, accounting and bookkeeping services
- To prepare and lodge returns and statements with the ATO and ASIC on your behalf
- To send newsletters or offers, only where you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To meet our legal and professional obligations
Who we share it with
We only disclose your information where needed to provide our services or where required by law — for example to the Australian Taxation Office, ASIC, or trusted service providers such as our accounting software (Xero, MYOB), email providers, and Twilio for appointment text messages. We do not sell your personal information.
How we protect it
Website forms are sent over an encrypted connection. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and keep records only as long as required by law.
Cookies & analytics
Our website uses a session cookie to keep forms secure. Embedded services such as Google Maps may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
Appointments
When you book an appointment we store your name, email, phone number, the topic and any notes you add, so we can call you, send your confirmation and reminders, and keep a record of the booking. If you choose to receive text messages, your phone number is shared with our SMS provider (Twilio) only to deliver those messages.
Access & complaints
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting us at admin@mytaxessentials.com.au or 0413 137 555. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
